"The difference between ignorant and educated people is that the latter know more facts. But that has nothing to do with whether they are stupid or intelligent." - Neal Stephenson

Education encompasses teaching and learning specific skills, and also something less tangible but more profound: the imparting of knowledge, positive judgment and well-developed wisdom. Education has as one of its fundamental aspects the imparting of culture from generation to generation. Education means 'to draw out', facilitating realisation of self-potential and latent talents of an individual. It is an application of pedagogy, a body of theoretical and applied research relating to teaching and learning and draws on many disciplines such as psychology, philosophy, computer science, linguistics, neuroscience, sociology and anthropology.

Education of an individual begins at birth and continues throughout life. Many believe that education begins even before birth, as evidenced by some parents' playing music or reading to the baby in the womb in the hope it will influence the child's development. For some, the struggles and triumphs of daily life provide far more instruction than does formal schooling.

Family members may have a profound educational effect - often more profound than they realize. This is though family teaching may function very informally like cooking with kids and teach kids how to embrace differences. Education expert is suggesting that family education and school education should have respective focuses. The former should concentrate on fostering children's personalities, and the latter on teaching academic knowledge. Family education deserves more attention, being crucial in forming children's personalities, habits and interests. Sound morals, positive values, confidence and the ability to communicate with others in family education. These are as important to kids as the knowledge they learn from school, if not more so.

At edcal.com, we set out to review how a nation sets up a curriculum to educate its people, usually the young. Education is synonymous to schooling, which is normally systematic and thorough. Sometimes education systems can be used to promote doctrines or ideals as well as knowledge, and this can lead to abuse of the system. Mark Twain once said, "Never let school interfere with your education."
